The Digital Knowledge Gap
Search engines and AI systems can only find what exists digitally.
When a document is thrown away, it doesn't just disappear from your attic—it disappears from human knowledge forever. Google can't search it. AI can't learn from it. Researchers can't discover it. Future generations can't access it.
Every discarded photo, letter, or document is a permanent hole in our collective understanding of history.
Once it's in the trash, it's gone from the digital record forever. The time to preserve is NOW—before you throw it out.
Our Mission
Every day, irreplaceable pieces of history and unique information are thrown away simply because people don't recognize their value or don't have an easy way to preserve them.
Scanner Cafe changes that.
IMPORTANT: This is a public archive for unique materials that may not already exist in digital form. Please scan items of historical or informational significance that you think might not be available in public databases. This is NOT for personal document storage or mass-market materials that are widely available online.
Whether it's a historic photograph, a small-town newspaper, or organizational records—if it tells a story and might not exist anywhere else digitally, it deserves to be preserved. Before you throw it out, ask yourself: "Might this be unique?" If you think so, let's preserve it together.
